A BOOK ABOUT
Ordovician trilobites of Northwest Russia
Last news:
We are planning that the book will be available by April 2008. Here you may find the detail information.
Saint-Petersburg Paleontological Laboratory (SPPL) has been successfully working in the area of search, extraction, research and preparation of the Ordovician trilobites of Northwest Russia. During this period of time we have prepared and researched more than 1000 specimens of the Ordovician trilobites representing more than 150 species. By the shear volume in numbers and species, this represents one of the largest trilobite collections in the world.
| We have long known the need to summarize this wealth of information accumulated from our work with so wide a range of material. Our first attempt of such a summarization and systematization was the creation of an encyclopedia on CD “Ordovician trilobites of Russia” which was a short description of trilobite species aimed mainly at paleontologists amateurs. |
|
Through our many friends and contacts, we have been strongly encouraged to publish an in-depth printed book of the many species and their characteristics. We are now prepared to do this.
The SPPL has prepared a wide database of information for creation of a well illustrated book on these Ordovician trilobites that not only satisfies the needs of the professional paleontologists, but is also understandable and informative to amateurs.
The major principal of the book will be a combination of the scientific information, many high quality photos on specimens, and characteristics of the main trilobite localities in Northwest Russia.
The structure of the book will be a professionally designed mix of scientific description, and a manual for classification and identification of the trilobites.
Our many years of extensive work with these trilobites and the subsequent accumulation of vast quantities of information on them qualifies us to produce what will be the most complete and extensive book on these trilobites in existence today.

SPPL wants this book to be available for all parties to enjoy and learn and undertakes this project as a non-commercial project to achieve this. Because of the scope and size of this project on Ordovician trilobites of Russia, considerable financial investments, as well as the attraction of many specialists will be needed.
To achieve this goal and fulfill this project we are looking for sponsors.
Individual people, companies, scientific organizations, and anyone who loves paleontology and wants to play a part in the creation of this book. We are ready to discuss all offers concerning the project. All people interested are invited to get more information on the project.
