More than 100 tons of limestone were crushed and dug out during excavation of trilobites from the pit.

Wolchov reservoir. Numerous flooded limestone outcrops with Xenasaphus devexus were found on the banks of the reservior.
Excavation of blocks with Xenasaphus devexus.
Excavation is carried out from water because all outcrops are flooded and partly covered by silt. We found productive sections of outcrops when water was at low level in the reservior. At first we dig the silt and remove it from the blocks, than we break off the rock and separate block from the layer. After this procedures new block with unpepared trilobites is lifted from the water.
